The bag is placed between the saddle and saddle pad, with compartments either side of your horse. I have had my Freerein saddle bags for nearly five years now. Mine are the first generation ones and are pretty much indestructible. The latest version seems identical but with a more discreet logo. I have taken them all over the country and recently competed in the pony trekking class at the royal welsh show using them. They are pricy but you absolutely pay for what you get and these will stand up to any weather or tough conditions and will last and last!
Having used these a Freerein for a couple of treks, I wanted the same for my upcoming private trek in the USA. There's nothing there available like this so I've bought one to take with me.
